Topic for the day!

From the desk of: Christopher Joseph T.Torralba

Founder of www.cecventures.com

Kaya when I hook up sa idea na pag aralan ko kaya?

dun ako nag ka interest to attend seminars, webinars, buy books, study on the internet and many more.

WALA KANG HARVEST TODAY KASI WALA KANG TINANIM 10 YEARS AGO!

MARUNONG AKONG MAGBIGAY.

I gave my tithes to our church which I believed God doesn’t need money but the whole church needs money so that it can run continuously!

We cannot out give God! but we can share what we have.

http://cecventures.com/community-service/

I was able to help many of my co- employee abroad with this typical problems.

* Tuition fee ng anak

* Pang bayad nila sa utang

* Medical assistance

* Manganganak na asawa

* At marami pang iba na di ko na babanggitin pa.

WHY FINANCIAL PLANNING IS A NEED FOR A WOMEN NOWADAYS?

From the desk of: Christopher Joseph T.Torralba

Magandang araw sa mga kababaihan!

Ngayong araw may ibabahagi ako sa inyo and I found out sa aking mga blogs and email na aking sinusulat para sa aking mga subcribers na maraming kababaihan ang mas ineteresadong mag aral ng financial education like men paano koi to nalaman?

Eto ang aking FB ads demographics.

This is my FREE eBook on income multiplier:

Financial Compass for Pinoys!

I give this FREE edition on my website and napansin ko ang graphs na mas maraming interested na women from age 35-44 this graphs came from my Facebook Ads.

Kaya today ibabahagi ko sa inyo ang mga tips on how to build your financial plan because it is very important po it especially if you are married and have your children as well.

It is almost 65 % ang interested and ang mga men naman eh35 % lamang.

Bilang isang babae may ibabahagi ako sa inyong importanteng mensahe sa atin ni God from the book of proverbs.

Proverbs 31:10-31 King James Version (KJV)

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

To make it short ang ulirang babae ay masipag, matiyaga, marunong mag organize ng kanyang sambahayan at marunong mag produce ng pera sa pamamagaitan ng au mang uri ng pamumuhunan.

Bakit poi to sinabi sa bible?

If maari ng maghanapag buhay ang siang babae at pu pwede naman why not find a way to make her own source of income?

Mag kababaihan wag po kayong pumayag na di po kayo binibigyan ng inyong mga asawa dahil it is considered na may work po kayo when you stay at your house to manage everything.

So what tips can I share to every woman who will read this blog?

Eto po ang 3 tips na importante on how to create your own financial planning.

  1. Save money as much as you can.

  1. Invest on your life protection.

Sa mga dalaga naman po as mucah as earlier once na may work na kayo invest first in life insurance so that you are protected in any case may happen to you.

  1. Create money machines.

As I’ve said earlier di po sapat na tumatangghap po tayo ng income sa ating mga asawa or parents if possible to make money create your own source of income.

Because mas masarap mag meryenda at manood ng sine if you can make your own money that you don’t need to beg for your husband or parents to have money from them, there is a feeling of independent and confidence to spend money that created by your own hands.

One of the important and yet I forget to pay attention.

From the desk of: Christopher Joseph T.Torralba

But actually, the reason for the season is because we have a saviour and that is our Jesus Christ! and I am not ashamed to tell you that I enjoy my Christmas not just because I can spend my time with my family at ang mga masasarap ng food, but because I know Jesus died for my sins so that I can live and enjoy my life up to the fullest and to have my eternal life.

I hope you also have your Jesus Christ in your heart para may Christmas man o wala life is always meaningful.

A – ccept that you and I are a sinner.

B – elieve that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins

C – onfess our transgressions.

Bago tayo lumayo, ibabahagi ko sayo ang aking tips on how did I enjoy my 4rt Christmas this year! and paano ka din makakapag pasko sa atin.

Eto ang TIPS ko.

Since my contract is around 7 – 8 months sumasampa ako ng beginning of march and I will extend 1 month to make it 8 months so makakauwi ako ng October and I plan to have 3 months vacation so possible makakasampa ko ulit ng jan – feb.

From the desk of: Christopher Joseph T.Torralba

Good morning partner! May ibabahagi ako sayo sa isa sa aking income multiplier eto yung stock market investing, and I received a dividends from their companies earnings annually.

Aba matindi! di ko magets! eto yun ikukuwento ko sayo.

What is a ‘Dividend’

A dividend is a distribution of a portion of a company’s earnings, decided by the board of directors, paid to a class of its shareholders. Dividends can be issued as cash payments, as shares of stock, or other property.

But the good thing in investing in the stock market you can buy shares of largest companies in the Philippines and you have the opportunity to received a dividends from their earnings!

at ang pinaka malupet nito ” I NEVER WORK PHYSICALLY IN MERALCO CORPORATION ” di po ako umaakyat ng poste ng kuryente to earn from it, since I am an investor in meralco the employees there are my employees too because I am a part owner of meralco.

Alam ko nalilito ka pero I know you are curious to know how to invest in the stock market.

para sa buong detalye you can inquire here!

Why a lot of seafarers neglect about handling money?

some of those doesn’t know how to manage their earnings while they are still a  seafarers, but a lot of them based on my observation doesn’t know how to manage their resources, they just earn and go home and spent their money and until the next ship they will work and the cycle continues.

So I want to share the 5 common mistakes of seafarers about handling money and please read it carefully so you might learn how to avoid these 5 common mistakes.

  1. Lack of plan about their money

Why did I say this? When I am onboard I ask my colleagues and I ask them what is your plan 10 years from now? or how many years you want to work as a seafarer?

I am asking in this way so that I may have their idea if they have a plan more than being a provider to their families, and most of them answer me different ideas but the sad thing is most of them is far from planning but they are always near in buying ideas.

If they will receive cash advance most of them thinks

” what to buy for me or what to buy for my family ”

It is a punch to the moon if someone will answer me if I will receive my money I will start to create my business or learn how to invest my money or even I want to share some of my resources in my chosen charities.

That’s why the lack of plan about money will end up into a rat race or an endless loop.

In short it will be a cycle earning, and they forgot that earning as a seafarer is not a lifetime.

If you will not plan for your money more than to be a provider to your family, you will end up to become a provider until you cannot be seafarer anymore.

  1. Un familiar about delaying gratification

This is not just about my observation but it is a normal practice of a lot people in handling their money, when we receive our salary we always want to buy a new pants new shoes or even new gadgets etc and etc.

Delaying gratification is an ability to delay what you want to purchased right now.

ex: Let’s say you want to bought a new smart phone which cost about 18,000 pesos for the year 2017 2 years later the depreciation cost is huge!

maybe you can bought it around 10 – 15 thousand at the year 2019

so there are a lot of stuff we can delay to bought like cars, house, expensive gadget etc.

If you knew that you don’t need to bought what you want immediately you can delay your gratification.

delaying gratification doesn’t means you will not buy it, you will just simply delay it.

The amount you can save can be invest and when it accumulate already you can bought a new arrival of gadgets or whatever stuff you want to buy.

  1. They ignore financial education

They ignore financial education because they knew that they are earning a lot and earning capacity doesn’t have an end, and this is what I called illusion.

That’s why even there’s a lot of financial seminars they still ignore it because they don’t care about growing their money, most of them just know how to earn money onboard the vessel, but they ignore how they can grow what they have earned as a seafarer.

  1. They have a lot of dreams and yet they ignore actions

I’ve seen all of us have a dream, but sometimes it ends up with a dream.

Like: I want to have my business, I want to buy a house, I want to buy my car, I want to become rich, and a lot of dreams that never ever may happen because of common mistake.

” ACTIONS ”

We all dream about good things we all dream that we might become rich one day, we all dream that we can travel our family around the world.

But it does not happen because there is no ACTION!

You want to grow your money on investments but you don’t want to learn how to do it.

You want to learn how create your business but you don’t pay attention on business education.

All things may happen in just a matter of time. but don’t expect you will achieve what you want in life unless you will do something.

  1. Narrow minded plans.

Narrow minded plans means that we plan a lot of things but we just look and saw it in narrow way.

ex:  A lot of seafarers wants to buy expensive stuff that they don’t even think 10 x first before they bought it.

But they didn’t foresee the effect of their immediate actions.

If they plan and think in the depth they will understand that it is better to establish their ” emergency fund ” before they buy some stuff that which is not an immediate need.

So when they are experiencing excessive vacation they don’t need to borrow money to other people they are self sufficient because they plan ahead of time, they avoid narrow minded actions.

In the end their family will not be in hard situation specially when concerning about their cost of living.

Hopefully this 5 tips!

will give you an insight about the common mistakes of seafarers on handling money.

10 Secrets tips on how to save money from buying.

Written By: Christopher Joseph T.Torralba

Want to read it later? here is the link to download:

http://cecventures.com/10-secrets-tips-…oney-from-buying/

Hi! how’s life at sea  or maybe how’s your vacation?

So I hope everything is fine.

So today I will share some thoughts on savings, but savings which has a lot of sense specially for us like a seafarers.

we often think that saving is a normal thing to do specially if you have your earring capacity. but why many of us doesn’t really understand what saving really means?

so today I will share some of my personal tips that I am practicing and have experience. that’s why some of my colleagues knows that I always have an extra not because my salary is the same like the management level officers, but some of my closed friends onboard know that I know how to save money a lot.

so here is the following tips that I can share to you, and please try to practice it and teach it to our children.

Tip # 1:

Identify if it’s a NEED or WANT?

why you need to buy some stuff that doesn’t really need urgently? if those stuff you want to buy will help you a lot to become poor in the future. why you need to buy those stuff. I never mention anything because you knew to yourself what is your needs and wants.

Warren buffet said once said!

” If you will but the things you don’t need later you will sell the things you need ”

Tip # 2:

Identify where and when to buy.

Seafarers normally disregard buying stuff or things they like in the right timing, what do I mean?

I’ve seen a lot of seafarers buying stuff they don’t need and yet later they will tell to themselves.” why did I bought you? I bought you because of my impulsive buying attitude.

My tip # 2 is one of the best practices I am doing before I bought some stuff for my personal needs.

I plan it first and search for stores where I can buy cheaper price but having the same quality.

I really don’t buy Immediately because I know some of local stores where I can buy my need that I can have the lower price rather than buying in expensive stores like shopping malls.

Now if there is a SALE in one of our well known shopping malls that’s offering a 5 -70 % discount. that is the right and exact timing to purchase the stuff that it is worth crying for, and that is the real purpose of SALE to bought it in cheaper price.

because if you will buy a stuff which is sale even up to 80 %  OFF but those stuff doesn’t consider a NEED why spend 20 % of it if it’s doesn’t need?

and this is one of my secret technique why I can make money from BUY and SELL business.

Tip # 3:

De clattering.

De clattering is one of the common saving techniques that a lot of people ignore.

Some people building their houses creating their crafts and arts came from scraps and garbage’s.

But actually in our own house we bought a lot of things even we don’t check first our old stocks.

Ex: groceries, food, and other expenses

we bought a lot of food groceries and other stuff without checking if we still have some old stocks. and later on some canned goods for example can be expired without tasting it.

Tip # 4:

Branded doesn’t mean they have all the best quality.

I can bought levis jeans in our local market named divisoria, Philippines.

Does not mean you are wearing cheaper brand or imitation means you are poor but in my opinion I will wear a dress that I can look presentable and neat that I don’t need to buy expensive or branded stuff.

I am not saying branded is bad, but not all stuff we need to buy should be branded.

and if you are possessing a lot of branded stuff at home doesn’t mean you are rich.

If your still working as an employee and that is the main source of your income and you all depend in becoming an employee you are not rich, you can consider yourself as poor or middle class.

to understand what I mean in POOR and MIDDLE CLASS

I challenge you to read the book of robert kiyosaki’s ” Cash flow quadrant ”

Because in this book you may identify if you are rich, poor or you are in the middle class.

Tip # 5:

Avoid being envy.

I know a lot of seafarers, you might say to me again, hhmmm…??? you know a lot?

I say AGAIN! I know a lot, because I work with them onboard the vessel, that’s why I knew it.

I have some colleagues onboard the vessel buying and purchasing some stuff like cars, houses & etc not because of need but because of envy to other seafarers who have it already.

When they post it to their social media some of their friends will say it in Tagalog

( Filipino language ) HHmmmmm,, buti pa sila or buti pa siya,… together with a sad emoticon.

it’s not bad to have these stuff. but here is the problem some of them working hard to bought because of envy to make it short it’s like a competition.

and sometimes when the real need arise they are prisoner of their liabilities to the point they cannot help other people even the street children that begging for some coins or food on the streets.

House is either an asset or a liability it depends how you use it.

don’t forget the word ” MORTGAGE ”

Mortgage in Latin I think Mortir If I’m not mistaken. mortir means.

” PAY UNTIL YOU DIE ”

You can bought a car or a house but bought a price based on your budget and ability not just to earn but the ability to pay it. because if not, instead of becoming rich it will send you to becoming a poor and will help you a lot to work onboard until you grow old isn’t AMAZING???

Tip # 6

Create your schedule in hanging out in shopping malls.

When we go to shopping malls even we don’t have an intention to buy something, shopping malls will gave you the reason to BUY!.

Because for me shopping mall means:

BUY, BUY, BUY

SPEND, SPEND, SPEND

do I need to elaborate this deeper?

I think I don’t need too.

So much better to have your schedule and list.

IF you are on the shopping malls at your right schedule together with your list to buy. so that is the time you can buy some stuff together with spending your time with your family enjoying one of the biggest shopping mall in the world.

Tip # 7:

Don’t just buy for yourself buy also for trading and commerce.

When I am on shopping malls I don’t just buy some stuff which is my ” NEED ”

but I also buy some stuff that I can sell to my friends and colleagues.

I will bought it in a cheaper price and I will sell it to my friends with profit.

In this way I don’t just save but I also earn additional income to be thrown away to some of my paper asset investments.

Tip # 8

Repair and maintenance.

When I was a young boy I always be my father’s assistant in repair and maintenance of our house to keep it safe and tidy.

that’s why in my young age up to now I never hired a carpenter when I need some repair on our household even any stuff at home.

but If you don’t have some experience of some carpentry work probably you need to pay for carpenter that’s needs a money to flow our into your pocket.

So as much as possible repair first so that we can delay buying new stuff in our household.

Tip # 9

Create your monthly budget.

I never apply a monthly budget or using en envelope system in managing our resources every month, before I was withdraw money on my bank account and spend it. but when I learned the purpose of using a monthly budget or the envelope system in my Financial advisor Christopher Cervantes its really works!

this is my sample:

Cost of living 25,000 pesos per month consist of food, electricity, utilities and etc.

I need to be diligent in managing these amount until the next month because if not I will be in a negative cash flow.

But when you use this technique you will be amazed because every month there will be some left amount in your envelope that can be used to add in your investments or to bought a stuff you loved.

One of my tips to save in your monthly expenses is in FOOD budget.

we practice to buy less amount of meat and large amount of vegetables instead of cooking large portion or meat we just cook small amount and add some vegetables.

Its more healthier and you can save some amount of money from it.

Tip # 10

Give.

Giving is a word which is boring to the people  doesn’t practice to give.

But Giving is a command form God. though we still have a free of will.

better to give than nothing, giving is sowing and sowing could lead into reaping in the future.

Check this out this non sense story of a poor widow in the Bible about giving.

and I think no one can do this immediately that’s why she became popular in the bible stories.

MATTHEW 6: 1

LUKE 21: 1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.   2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.   3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:  4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God:  but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

I hope you learn some of my tips on how you can save a lot of money before buying your stuff.

So here I will not just share on how to save but I will also teach you how to grow your money.

23 TIPS  On SEAFARERS In Planning Their Vacation

 Abroad With Their Family

Hello This is Christopher Founder Of cecventures.com

and today I just wanna share one of the favourite stuff of my fellow seafarers and one of those is a family vacation.

Seafarer’s Travel a lot in every part of the world because that is a part and nature of our work and I know everyone likes it.

But who among us is very proud if we can travel some part of the world together with our loved ones such as your wife and children.

So I just wanna share what we have experienced from planning this vacation I will give all TIPS! that we can give so that every seafarer can benefit from it.

Please watch all the links that I will give because everything will be important during vacation planning.

Before I forgot I just wanna share my compelling reason why did I start my goals to have a family vacation abroad.

last time I join the ship I am in manila airport bound for Hongkong and I saw a family husband and wife together with their children and I look at them that they are very happy on their journey.

So I ask myself in this way ” How many years I am travelling as a seafarer and yet  my family does not have an opportunity to travel with me.

So before I start my job at sea I set my goals last year that I need to start travelling with my family while I am young.

And I know no all seafarer’s have the opportunity to travel abroad with their family so that’s why I wrote this blog for you to have an inspiration and to start planning your next vacation with your family.

So here are my FREE Tips!

Tip #  1

Make a plan!

Do you remember our SMS ( safety management system ) onboard ?

” Plan what you do and Do what you plan ”

Many things we want doesn’t happen not just because lack of money but because lack of planning and goals if you want to achieve your personal goals you need to plan it ahead of time and work for it to make it happen.

This is the screen shot of my excel file when I started to wrote this plan when I’m still onboard on my last vessel.

wrote it and feel it that It will gonna happen.

Tip # 2

Save a budget for the vacation

How much you want to have a vacation with your family it will not happen if you will not save an amount for that, so for you to feel that it will happen you need to discipline yourself through savings.

every month we receive our cash advance from captain separate immediately your budget for family vacation.

Tip # 3

Make a list of your things to bring for travel

One of the most common mistake and problem you will encounter in family vacation is when you missed something at home like smart phone charger, medicine or whatever important thing we need during our vacation and that is one of my observation on my fellow seafarers they go onboard with lack of the things they need because they don’t make a list for their stuff onboard and sometimes due to urgent joining the ship so that is one of my practice before I join the ship I have my list so that in my computer so that I can update it anytime and I will print it so that while I am preparing my stuff onboard I am sure that all things I need will be on my luggage.

and in fact some I generate small amount in selling onboard because my colleagues forgot the following like:

* Mouse

* Comb

* Nail cutter

* personal flashlight

* USB

and many more, some of my fellow seafarers in our company knows that I am selling these following stuff that they forgot to bring and they are glad that I bring something they forgot on their stuff onboard.

So here is my ” List to bring ”  you can click here to download your own copy

—>>>> List To Bring

Tip # 4

Choose between the two vacation options:

  1. Plan your vacation with the help of travel agency.

Advantage – You don’t need to plan for your vacation you will just choose their vacation promo package and then pay for it.

Disadvantage – Probably it will be Expensive

  1. Plan your vacation with your own booking style.

Advantage – You can plan your own travel with your own budget and you can save some money from it you are the boss of your own vacation.

Disadvantage – You need to plan diligently for you schedule, booking and you will experience a lot of effort from it because the plan came from you.

Tip # 5

Book your vacation ahead of time:

If you will book ahead of time your vacation becomes cheaper since you book your vacation ahead of time let’s say 1 month ahead in this way you can avail some promo, so plan your schedule diligently and book ahead of time.

Make sure you will be there on the schedule that you book unless time and chance won’t permit you to be there so we don’t have a choice but to cancel the vacation when you cancel the vacation on your flights and hotels expect that re – book will be more expensive.

Tip # 6

How to have a sure vacation budget?

There are two options on how you can save your vacation budget

  1. Is saving an amount every month when captain gave you your cash advance.
  2. Try to ask an extension of your contract and then use that amount base on your destination you want to go, although this will be a sacrifice because we need to work more than our contract but who among us doesn’t know how to sacrifice for our families sake? we work hard for them so why not ask an extension?

Tip # 7

Hotel Selection

In Singapore one of the famous and expensive hotel is in marina bay sands.

We did not book our hotel here since we have our specific budget but base on my fellow Filipino tourist came from Singapore what they did is they book first the cheap hotel for 2 days and after they book their hotel in marina bay sands for 1 day, meaning they will transfer another hotel which is in marina bay after 2 days in these way they can experience the expensive and well-known hotel in Singapore.

It’s not important how much you spend in vacation what matters most is what you have enjoy and experience.

Tip # 8

Book your vacation out of peak season

If possible in your vacation schedule try to book in non peak season because peak season is not just only expensive but also it will make your vacation very tiring.

Because a lot of people is going on the place that you plan to go.

Tip # 9

Prepare for your cameras memory

Nowadays we preferred to post a picture and videos in our social media account on what’s happening on our vacation but It will become a sad thing if you don’t have an excess memory for the moments that you need to captured it.

By the way I will gave my list including my gadgets that I am suggesting that you need to bring on your vacation.

Tip # 10

Be careful on your travel in crowd places

If you  have a child that needs to have a guardian you don’t want to ruin yourself regarding on your vacation because you lost your child in your hand. before it may happen you need to bare in your mind that you did not go for vacation just for the place attraction you are there together with your loved once because you need to take care of them too while you are on vacation. so be very careful and also your belongings.

Tip # 11

Watch your daily budget

I learned vacation budgeting in my mentor Capt. Christopher Cervantes founder of cardinalbouy.com

I one thing he suggest is like this let’s say if you will stay around 3 days and your budget is around 300 for 3 days probably you need to spent only 100 $ per day in these way your budget will be evenly distributed for 3 days.

if you spent more than your budget definitely your budget the following day is not enough.

You may buy an accordion enveloped because these tool is very effective in monitoring your budget daily.

Tip # 12

Observe for opportunities in Business and Investments

Some of great businesses and Investments came from other places that had bring it’s concept in other places.

One of my friend when he travel he did not just make himself happy in his vacation  he also look and observe for other opportunities for business and investments that he can be learned and possible he can apply.

Tip # 13

Baggage Space:

You need to prepare some space in your luggage before you start departing for vacation or you can bring some extra bag for preparation for some souvenirs that you want to buy.

Tip # 14

Avoid broadcasting on social media while you are in vacation

Some people if they know you that you have a big and elegant house or they knew you have a lot of money if they will see that you are on vacation if there is someone who wants to make a bad thing like theft. be careful unless you have a lot of security guards in your house.

In our case before we leave my parents is in our house so we don’t need to think about our house while we are enjoying our vacation.

If you will just leave your house alone make sure that all faucet are properly close refrigerator are only in # 1 setting to avoid to much ice or if does not have anything inside much better shut it down. close all window and all the doors properly.

Tip # 15

Prepare your local currency money on your destination

When I receive my unpaid wages in the office I did not change all my dollar currency I separate an amount for our vacation. In this way you don’t need to buy a dollar in your place like banks which is more expensive rather than separating some amount for your vacation.

Before we fly in Singapore we change some amount of Singaporean dollars so that when we arrive in Singapore we have already a money for our taxi fare to travel in our hotel.

In our case we don’t go in travel agency we book our flight and hotel through online.

Set your budget for how many days you will stay and when you arrive in airport of your destination you can change your money for their local currency.

Tip # 16

Prepare extra cash:

Though you have your certain budget you really don’t know how much amount you need to spend when you are already in vacation since every stuff price tends to go higher and higher much better you have an extra cash than nothing.

Tip # 17

Padlock your luggage anytime you leave your hotel

Before you leave your hotel before you start your tour make sure you have your padlock and lock all your luggage as possible so that you are sure that it is more safer than to leave it open when you leave better than safe than never.

In addition much better to paint your key and padlock for colour coding in this way you can easily select the right key and you don’t need to waste a lot of time.

Tip # 18

Plan your schedule

Sometimes you wanna go to look for some stuff that you want but the problem is your time is ruined because your partner or your family is busy looking for souvenirs for other people. make a schedule for buying time for souvenirs because you go there to enjoy your vacation not to please other people just only for buying their souvenirs.

Tip # 19

Additional savings for vacation

We all know that our salary onboard has it’s different range from officers to ratings so if you think your salary is not enough to have your dream vacation with your family you can do some practical things such as cutting down your expenses onboard such as slop chest or expenses in going ashore you are not depriving yourself in this way you are just practicing discipline on savings that you probably the amount you can save will be for your family vacation.

Tip # 20

Bring extra clothes:

Don’t think that you will just wear a one shirt for the whole day of travelling other country in their famous places most of them are outdoor so before you get sick of not changing your back with a new shirt. bring an extra at least you have two shirts per day.

Tip # 21

Try your new recipe with their signatures dishes:

Family vacation will be a lot of eating and drinking. but if you are a cook at your home it will be a good opportunity for you to copy their signature dish specially when it is a healthy food try to explore their dishes for you to serve a new taste at your kitchen.

Tip # 22

Charging Slot:

I know a lot of seafarers travel and spent some times in hotels when joining and signing off the ship. as you can see some hotels have a limited electrical slots.

If you want to charge you smart phone or power bank you may use the side slot of USB in their Led television it can charge our electrical device such as smart phones , MP3, power bank and many more.

Tip # 23

Tax expenses:

We seafarers are tax free when we are joining our ship but being a tourist and spending your vacation in abroad is a different.

We need to pay our ” travelling tax ” when we travel.

In our case from manila to Singapore adult travel tax is around 1,620 pesos or 33 US dollars about the children the tax is reduced up to 800 pesos or 16  US dollars.

Tips on Seafarer’s on how to manage our ” Unpaid Wages and Leave Pay ” when we finally receive it!
  1. Giving / Tithing’s:

Many people and even some seafarer’s neglect the word giving because we think normally that the time we receive our salary it has to be spent only for or family.

I personally believe that what you sow you will reap, In my recent blogs I said that God doesn’t gave us enough or some excess resources for us alone.

If you think that God blessed you a lot from the job you have you should know your purpose by means of giving.

Some resources had been given to us so that we could be a channel of blessing to others.

  1. Prepare your Financial accounting:

These is one of the practices that some seafarer’s doesn’t have an idea and they don’t have any plan for managing it.

Normally we know is when we receive it we just need to manage that resources until the next vessel that we will sign on.

But that is the mistake of many  even me, And from what I have learned from Financial seminar I learned how to calculate the SAL ( statement of asset and liabilities ) how to prioritize your budget and some allocation such as investment and protection.

You need to have your own financial accounting so that you will know what you need to prioritize first.

  1. Eliminate you debts:

Before you buy your newest gadget or anything you love to buy you need to eliminate your debt first.

Because if not it will accumulate it’s interest or if it doesn’t have, some people ruin their personality by neglecting to pay their debt first.

And they hurry to bought the stuff that will make them poorer instead of richer.

  1. Separate immediately your emergency fund:

many seafarers know how to save but they forgot to save for much serious savings such as emergency fund.

Emergency fund will be your buffer in any case of loss of job or any serious need  of money or whatever it can be used for urgent purposes.

You have your fancy car amazing house or anything you gave a deeper value. but if you forgot to save your emergency fund.

later on you will sell what you have in a negative profit.

  1. Freewill Fund:

There is a lot of terms of Freewill fund like happy fund, play fund or anything you want to call it.

I save some amount for my freewill fund is for the purpose of buying the things that I love such as eating in a fine dine restaurant or buying a stuff that I loved.

These fund is outside of your monthly budget! meaning these fund can be spent wherever and whenever you want.

so typically  save around 20 – 30 dollars per month of my salary so it could be like this 30 $ x 45 pesos ( samples exchange rate ) x 8 months of contract = 10,800 pesos.

These is only an example you may set your own budget base on your monthly income.

  1. Invest on protection like life insurance:

We need to understand that being a seafarer is not a lifetime and we know a Lot of stories that many seafarers when their reach their retirement age how many of them are really prepared to retire? how many of them are financially stable that they don’t need to return onboard just to save for their retirement?

You need to understand that you should obliged  yourself to save and invest for your life protection known as life insurance because you never know what will gonna happen to you for tomorrow what if you die today do you have something for your family when you need to leave?

Life insurance is a different topic that you need to learn first to learn about investing in life insurance please follow these link:

  1. Don’t just save learn how to invest.

As I said many of seafarers when they reach their retirement age they don’t have the guts to face it because when the time they are earning a lot they don’t pay attention in managing their finances though some of them gave all they have to their children and other extended families that sometimes we need to consider.

But what need to learn here is we need to know how to invest our money in may investment vehicles out there.

So in these way you can maximize the potential growth of your money.

These investments that accumulated will help you when you are in your retirement age.

If you want to know more about different types of investments please watch these link on you tube.

  1. Prepare your monthly budget:

If you have a budget around 35,000 pesos or 714 $ per month and if your vacation is around 3 months you need to keep around 105, 000 pesos or 4,285 $

so that you can make sure within 3 months you can lived a normal life.

after that if you exceed your vacation and suddenly you loss your company or whatever reason you may use now your emergency fund.

  1. Eliminate Unnecessary expenses:

If you have some expenses that you think you don’t need to waste money then eliminate it immediately there are a lot or expenses which is more in need rather wasting it on the things that will never help you to build your financial stability that leads to financial freedom in the future.

My fellow seafarers if you will ignore this what I have written be careful!

Don’t be too overconfident with the current salary range.

Everything can be removed to us in a twinkling of an eye. If we will neglect to manage what God has entrusted to us when we are in our earning capacity.

Christmas Gift for seafarer’s???

fb-advertisement-copy

Hi! this is Christopher!
Founder of: cecventures.com

Muster Station copy

Did You Know That Ship’s Muster Station Is Like Seafarer’s Financial Foundation?

Written By: Christopher Torralba ( Seafarer )

Founder of:  cecventures.com

One day when I am working on deck in aft station my vision goes in Muster Station and I think that I can elaborate some short story in one of the most important location onboard, because I Think muster station have a similarity in Seafarer’s Financial Management.

Muster station

  1. Is the location where we conduct our mustering every time we need to perform an actual drill.

and almost every month we perform it continuously.

  1. Before we go here in our designated place in muster station you knew already what is your duties and responsibilities right?
  2. We conduct a drill because we never knew when and where an emergency might happen. we have our duties to know our impart on how we can respond in such kinds of emergencies.
  3. We never expect a fire, abandon ship, oil spill etc in real situation, but still why this thing should be implemented when we are onboard? simply because our ship has a plan for us in any case of emergency we have almost everything we need for us to survive.

The big question is If our ship has a master plan in our safety and escape if ever we need to leave the ship for whatever emergency might happen, Why many of us spend a decade already in their sea career and yet we don’t have any plan for our financial management such as , retirement, back up fund , personal life insurance or even preparation in unexpected disability or worse might death?

Do we really need to plan for this stuff ? you don’t need to answer because I know that you understand what I mean.

Seafarer’s Finances

  1. From the very first time that you’ve got your first job at sea we practice at the ship that we need to be informed in any emergencies and what is your duties and responsibilities in ” ship’s familiarization.

meaning from the very first time.

so from the very first time you’ve been onboard you should know your plan in your finances, you should able yourself to learn the capabilities to grow your money even in your very first contract.

  1. When you got onboard you have your duties and responsibilities onboard in any case of any emergencies. remember your cabin card?

same as your finances do you have  a personal plan or duties where to grow your money, where to invest it and how you can protect it,  so that while we are working as a seafarer likewise our money works hard for us as well.

3.We conduct a drills so that we can practice our duties and responsibilities in any case of emergencies so that we know what to do in real emergencies,

likewise in our finances we should have these duties and we should know how to respond in any financial crisis such as loss of job,  leaving too long, having a long vacation & many more.

  1. We never expect any emergency and the truth is most of the time actual drill sometimes is just making fun. but Financial crisis is not a good joke financial crisis is a real deal.

So before it’s too late, learn how to manage your finances well and be prepared in the real and true to life emergencies.

Learn from the people who already did it, and how they can help you as well.

I hope you learned something from my short story, Ship is just a piece of metal that can be put into junk if it’s useless anymore, Seafarer’s lives is more precious than that.

God bless to my fellow seafarer’s

What If Your “EX” Who Left You Behind Suddenly,..
Cross Your Path in Them Unexpectedly?  What Will You Do?
Written By: Christopher Torralba ( Family man )
Christopher Torralba is the founder of cecventures.com he is an OFW and a family man.
One Day when I am at work in the middle of the sun, I always love to think about some memories like high school life my first job my life experiences or maybe  past love life?
But Today my mind lead me into my past relationship’s and I remember that the woman that I love who left me in the middle of nowhere, though it is past but I say to myself that oh God! I am very lucky for what I have given to me.
My Salvation, my work, my wife my daughter and my family.
I am so thankful because there are some things we wanted in this life but even how hard we work to have it the more our creator try to remove or to make it further for us not to have it, you know why?
It’s simple! It is not meant for us.
That’s why when I start to build my own family and when I have my first daughter I realized how am I lucky because I don’t need to pretend That I am happy for my wife and my daughter.
It’s a natural thing to be happy with the one you marry and God blessed us with my precious daughter.
I wonder sometimes if my ex girlfriend will see my situation right now that I am so happy for what I have, I don’t know if she will cry or whatever emotion If! until now she is still single.
Well maybe you are asking why am I sharing my life story and I always answer a one reason.
Learn from my experiences.
The Time I am broke I try to make myself busy doing something productive and one of those is my passion to paint, yeah I paint! and most of the time I am doing some art piece when I am so emotional I put my emotion into the canvass to build a story instead of wasting my precious time to the one who disregard me not knowing what kind of person I could be in the future.
by the way if you want to view my stuff you can visit my website at:   cecventures.com -> art works
I continue my journey to fulfil my much awaited job at sea as a seafarer and it’s quite good and it is a big blessing from God because when became a seafarer I realized many things in life actually  A LOT!
I learned to work as an OFW I learned to develop myself as an individual I learned to trust God in any circumstances of my life I learned how to use a gadgets I learned to make money out of being an employee I learned to pursue my goal’s even many people around me doesn’t understand what is the true success means to me.
To make the story short as one of my business partner said to me,..
” life is full of opportunity “
Mr. Razon Owner of ICT ( Manila International Container Terminal )
yes! I am his Business partner, because I am a stock holder of his company how did I do that?
learn how to invest in the Philippine Stock Market because it is awesome to earn money from it.
You can visit my website cecventures.com to receive your FREE Report on
” How To Multiply Your Income ” because you can learn here on how to invest in the stock market.
Sometimes being left alone by our past relationships gave us the courage, and not just to endure the pain but to remodel, re – arranged our broken lives.
And being broke is one of the precious life experiences that we could have, It can teach us a lot of things it can help us to realize how precious we are as an individual and sometimes you can realize it when someone left you behind.
Don’t lose hope when someone left you behind, It’s not the end of the world.
I am brave to say that because I’ve been there before so to speak that’s why I wrote this short story of mine so that I can inspired some people.
Actually leaving us by the one we love is the hint of God that means ” I have something better for you “
because the one you love is not for you It is for the other people which I intended for Him or Her.
Be brave! and enjoy the life of freewill and realization so that when the wounds in our hearts are healed God Is waiting for you to reveal the one that He set’s for you even you weren’t born yet.
Rejoice! and celebrate the process of learning to love yourself more.
And I hope you learned something from my short story and I know you will share this story too…
May God bless you in your brokenness and hardships because there is a greater reward from it.

the story of portfolio copy

Basahing Mabuti bka may mabingwit kang kaalaman:
Eto po yung portfolio na tinatawag sa stock market. yung mga adik sa investing alam na nila pasikot sikot nito.. pero eto ay isinulat ko para sa mga taong walang kamalayan sa salitang Investments.
I learned some stuff in the Stock Market investing in myself willingness to research and of course continues learning from the people who already did it.
Since high school hanggang mag college, until I became a seafarer ” NO ONE ” ever teach me how to MULTIPLY my money without,…
* WORKING
* SELLING
* RECRUITING
* ANY EXECESSIVE EFFORT
So yung picture na to eto yung portfolio na tinatawag;
Portfolio simply means : A collection of someone’s Investments
by the way joke lang po..
eto ang tunay na investment:
Investments is a stuff that appreciate its value overtime, it gives a money into your pocket and gave you some confidence in times of famine.
Hyper millionaire people know that investments is the opposite of what I have said.
so eto portfolio tinakpan ko yung other data kasi bka mahalata nila na 5 k lang pala yung investments ko. hehehe.. yup! and did you know that you can start investing in the Philippine Stock Market for as low as 5,000 pesos? wow amazing!!!
sa portfolio ko kita mo yung color red na number ibig sabihin bagsak of negative yung investment ko na yun. ganun tlaga buhay, ksama yun sa kalakaran. you should know how to handle a risk in investments, otherwise you will not have a good sleep at night. when the market is down.

If I lost my job today can I celebrate within the first three months without any debt?
Written by: Christopher Torralba ( beggar )
Work is a huge blessing from God, everything that we have normally came from our job through the salaries that we receive.
so that’s why having a job should be take care of as long you may have it but the problem is this,
What will you do if you lost your job today without any savings to back you up ?
Have you try to ask yourself what if today I lost my job? as in today!
how can I produce for my daily expenses such as food, water, electricity and other daily expenses
not including if you have your children for their daily needs such as milk , diapers or if they are grown up how about  their education?
I am currently working as a seafarer on tanker vessels and I am shocked that I am working around seven  years as an OFW but I never felt about saving in my emergency such as when I lost my job right away, since the first time I receive money from my parents I found some happiness in saving money through the years that past by and now I ask myself,
how can I survive for my daily lifestyle if my cost of living is  20, 30, or 50 thousand pesos per month and some of them are very generous that they actually have 100,000 thousand pesos or more for their cost of living.
so I ask myself it is good to be true if ever I lost my job today I cannot survive for the amount of money that I have while I am applying for a new job at sea because there is transition that needs to take its place so due to urgent desire to plan for it the most basic things that I access is my common sense which is I need to save for any case of emergency!
But what kind of savings? and how much?
that is the time that I made my research through internet and social media and I am lucky that It is simply they are suggesting to build your emergency fund,
What? say it again? yes! ” EMERGENCY FUND “
So what is Emergency Fund?
Emergency Fund is a savings that you can save it in any safe place such as bank and having an immediate access but not easy access so you might not temp to take your emergency fund when there are some stuff that allures your mind when they are trying to temp you such as sale madness in huge shopping malls.
How much emergency fund do I need to save?
Base on my mentors through live seminars and in social media they are the financial advocate one
they suggest emergency fund amount is about a year or a half if your are working in land base you may prepare around 6 months but my mentor said if you are an OFW much better to prepare at least a 1 year or 12 months in exact.
Why 6 to 12 months?
In this amount if you are an OFW and suddenly you lost your job in a moment that you never expect or the company gave you a generous vacation such as 8- 10 months, you can apply for a new job but applying for a new job takes time and money, don’t forget  that you need to eat, drink and live everyday so if you don’t have any emergency fund or back up fund to back you up what is the first thing that comes in your mind? well I just simply  barrow money from lenders such as 5/6 or have a loan in SSS  ( social security system ) or any means to have an access for my daily needs specially if you are a family man
but why you need to borrow money from these lenders and likewise they will take advantage of its profit? much better why you don’t plan for your own emergency fund while you are earning right now and stay away for a moment from the stuff that not necessary and specially if they are non earning asset I did not say don’t buy the stuff that you need or what you want but this is my question what is important  to you right now?  the stuff that will not help you in financial crisis or building your emergency fund for you to have a confidence through the time of bad weather?
building emergency fund is not easy but it can be doable! if you know what is the meaning discipline in the Webster dictionary.
Here are some suggestions that you may appreciate to follow:
  1. At the end of the month or if it’s your payday set aside immediately  for your emergency fund so the question is how much?

    well

it depends on you if you like to build it as soon as possible you can set aside a large amount but if you can’t due

    too

some urgent priorities you can save small amount  but consistently.
  1. You can remove right away some unnecessary expenses such as soft drinks, cigarettes, excessive junk food or buying stuff that you don’t need at all in this way your monthly expenses for

    these stuff

will be converted to your emergency fund that can help you in

    financial

crisis that anyone can encounter any moment of time.
  1. When you start building your back up fund you may put it in the bank much better in passbook rather than an ATM card to avoid easy access, but it can

    be withdraw

    any moment of financial emergency.
  1. One of the main

    purpose

of this emergency fund is to provide for your daily needs if you lost your job  at any moment of time or most financial

    advocate

said it is your income replacement while you are applying for a new job or it can be used for the most urgent one.
Building our emergency fund is just easy as writing a blog but the truth is it’s not easy for the people that doesn’t know their priorities in their lives.
If you will not build your emergency fund while you have a good earning’s one day crisis will come that you didn’t felt its already overtaken you, later you will felt you don’t have money to spend anymore due to negligence of handling for it and you will be shock you are already in huge debt.
I just want to share a short story from the bible regarding savings and conservation and I hope you will not asleep while you are reading it, even in biblical times God teaches us to save and conserve  for us to learn how to value our resources, many Christians known it word by word but the  truth is not all them are applying these great story.
Joseph and the Famine
13 There was no food, however, in the whole region because the famine was severe; both Egypt and Canaan wasted away because of the famine.14 Joseph collected all the money that was to be found in Egypt and Canaan in payment for the grain they were buying, and he brought it to Pharaoh’s palace. 15 When the money of the people of Egypt and Canaan was gone, all Egypt came to Joseph and said, “Give us food. Why should we die before your eyes? Our money is all gone.”
16 “Then bring your livestock,” said Joseph. “I will sell you food in exchange for your livestock, since your money is gone.” 17 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and he gave them food in exchange for their horses, their sheep and goats, their cattle and donkeys. And he brought them through that year with food in exchange for all their livestock.
18 When that year was over, they came to him the following year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord the fact that since our money is gone and our livestock belongs to you, there is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land. 19 Why should we perish before your eyes—we and our land as well? Buy us and our land in exchange for food, and we with our land will be in bondage to Pharaoh. Give us seed so that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become desolate.”
20 So Joseph bought all the land in Egypt for Pharaoh. The Egyptians, one and all, sold their fields, because the famine was too severe for them. The land became Pharaoh’s, 21 and Joseph reduced the people to servitude,[a] from one end of Egypt to the other. 22 However, he did not buy the land of the priests, because they received a regular allotment from Pharaoh and had food enough from the allotment Pharaoh gave them. That is why they did not sell their land.
23 Joseph said to the people, “Now that I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh, here is seed for you so you can plant the ground.24 But when the crop comes in, give a fifth of it to Pharaoh. The other four-fifths you may keep as seed for the fields and as food for yourselves and your households and your children.”
25 “You have saved our lives,” they said. “May we find favor in the eyes of our lord; we will be in bondage to Pharaoh.”
26 So Joseph established it as a law concerning land in Egypt—still in force today—that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh. It was only the land of the priests that did not become Pharaoh’s.
27 Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and were fruitful and increased greatly in number.
Genesis 47:13-27 New International Version (NIV)
Sharing  what is useful and important really makes sense in my behalf so I hope you learned something from what did I learned from other people.
May God bless you in handling your finances.

hidden dangers of publicity copy

The Hidden Dangers of Seafarer’s Publicity
Written By: Christopher Torralba ( Seafarer )

Good Day To My Fellow Seafarer’s
I just want to share One of the most important lesson that I learned as a Seafarer and actually many of us neglect this thing.

Which I called:

” The Hidden Dangers of Seafarer’s Publicity “

I know your eyebrow will move a little bit because of the topic,
but before you tell this is none sense topic read first so you may
past the mistakes that I’ve done before.

I will give you some Ideas on how you can take care of your hard earned money and some practical tips on how to make it safer not only you while you are onboard and likewise your family that you left behind.

  1. House Design:

It is common to Filipino Seafarer’s that when they are earning a huge salary normally they want to design their house that signifies that they are a Seafarer, which is not bad because we think that when we have the design in our house or gates having a anchor or steering wheel or a propeller, it simply means it is a seaman’s house, am I correct?

It is simplifies the reward of our hard work while we are at sea for us and for our family it is ok.

But the big problem is what about the thefts? or any Kidnapers?
When we use that design you simply attract the thefts to go inside to your house and attract them to take all you have work for,

And what about the safety of your family? but if you design it simple, concrete, and yet lovable to live, you are taking a lesser risk.

so before you make your mansion, make sure the safety of your family not the publicity.

Publicity won’t make you richer, It will be more difficult to maintain an extravagant lifestyle, especially if you are not a seafarer anymore.

  1. Showing that you have a plenty money :

This is a normal thing because you have this bunch of money because you work hard for it, and simple thing to do while we live is to enjoy the work of our labour.

the problem is not you, the problem is the people who surrounds’ you
the people who just asking their chocolates and other stuff when you came home already. but when the time you are in great danger, or in not good condition onboard. does this people remember you?
no they don’t! because all they know is what you have for them this is true, and I know you know it too, there is so much stories to share about yet this one is one of the most.

The time came your vacation becomes plenty and all of the people who ask their packages or anything you can give to them won’t help you.

or even asking the question, how are you?

  1. Accessories:

Did you remember the news from the television before ?
a seafarer who is a 3rd engr. if I’m not mistaken had been shoot by a gun through a running motorcycle.

and one of the reason is wearing a gold plated necklace which attract the suspect to take advantage of him.

this is the question?

Do you think if you wear a gold accessories in your body in private places like in airport or in shopping malls do you think you will be shoot immediately? I don’t think so.

The Problem with this guy is he wears his accessories even in the streets near in his home, so maybe this is not his intention but maybe he forgets the people that surrounds him that can take advantage of him.

Conclusion:

lesson I learned!

* Make Yourself simple yet you don’t need to wear a clothes like a beggar to hide your wealth, but make yourself attractive not by wealth but on how you manage your wealth and your family as well.

* Design Your House in the way you love it because the definition of a house if different from a home.

House is just a concrete materials that built by the carpenter that can be destroyed in just a matter of any disaster.

Home is where your family find a refuge and where the love of a family develops.

Don’t forget to remove the fancy design which the theft would be attracted.

* How much is your net worth right now does not mean you are secured until you grow old, don’t forget that being an employed does not guarantee a lifetime income, learning and exploring money management is a great virtue for all of seafarers.

Christopher once again, For now I am onboard in a tanker vessel named:

” kalahari “

and the ship stayed in angola for almost 2 years already If I’m not mistaken every time we go on deck to do our daily routine,  palagi ko napapansin tong mga tipaklong na ito madami kasi sumasampa..

and one thing I ask myself bakit may kulay berde which is palagi nating nakikita at meron kulay brown or dark color ng tipaklong tinatanung  ko sa sarili ko matanda na siguro yung brown color or golden brown color, at yung kulay berde eh bata pa siguro, hahaha

if ganun na tayo ka edad definetly di na tayo active to work or to earn unless you know how to earn in passive income, pero kung active income lamang ang kaalaman mong kumita.
this could be a problem kapag mag reretire na tayo eedad tayo at di natin yun mapipigilan. kung sa bagay di man natin hawak ang buhay. no one knows if we are still there for tomorrow, one thing is important!
until you have your income or resources mag set aside kana kahit gaano pa kaliit yan
wag ubusin ng lubos ang ating pinag hihirapan sa mga bagay na di naman tayo tutulungan if mabubuhay tayo ng mahabang panahon pa,so because you don’t know if you will leave many years from now.

Thank you for reading my article! God bless to all seafarers!
Nowadays many Filipinos are very informative in investment  gossips such as stock market, mutual fund, insurance & other investment vehicle that has been presented in many ways like seminars, books and social media.
But did you know how many percent  of Filipinos are well informed? and yet they don’t started anything from what they have learned.
Base on my research 100 million is the current population of the Filipinos yet less than 1 % are those who invested their money to make it short I want to share something useful  that you might be encourage to start thinking about investing.
I will tell you my real  life story before I started to invest.
I started to invest in searching knowledge! knowledge including  books, internet search, watching videos on you tube regarding financial matters and other  instrument’s  to enhance my understating on how these Filipino millionaires achieve their financial freedom in the investment world but the question is! Is this ideas and current research are enough for me to start to invest?
My opinion is it depends in your compelling reason and if you have a correct path before you start t to invest.
The big reason why I started my financial journey is because my compelling reason is I learned it from the God’s word the bible ( one of the book that I researched! ) that even God in his infinite wisdom addressed our situation in our financial journey there are many passages that God teaches us to invest  not just for money alone but for a deep meaning  with a purposes.
When I read the bible in searching answers here are some passages that gives me the joy and excitement in my decision to invest.
Some of these common terms are used by many investor.
SECURITY:
Many people think that when they have a lot of money they will feel that they are secured already but many conservative Christians will disapprove these statement but base on my experience it is true! that we don’t depend on money alone but in God’s grace for his kindness in providing us in our daily needs had you remembered ?  the prayer goes with ” give us our daily bread ” but I also felt that I am a little bit secured with my investments because of what king Solomon said.
A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
Ecclesiastes 10:19
I did not depend totally in my money but the truth is sometimes your investment gives you a confidence that you are secured in financial crisis that may happen along the way such as loss of job, sickness , death and other matters that will avoid you to produce wealth or to achieve your goals.
God doesn’t  give me a money from above but he gives me a wealth by means of abilities that he gave to me to produce but most of the time where this wealth goes? it goes normally to the people who knows how to take care of it.
I also observe many philosopher they often thinks that when you die you cannot take your money in heaven  well that is correct! but how on earth will you take your money in heaven? but the fact is what will you leave to your family when you depart? Smartphone,  car, debt , house mortgage? so you might tell me again money is not the answer for everything and yet you need it in every step of the way.
God gives you a time to produce but what did we do? we enjoy too much in worldly expenses  that normally depreciate its value overtime.
I am not telling it is wrong to buy the things that we wanted in life but! you should know your priorities when you receive your pay check pay yourself first before paying someone elsewhere it is simply means paying yourself is preparing yourself in life’s disaster and for your financial freedom.
Invest
As we taken up from the first verse that king Solomon said on Ecclesiastes 10:19
” money is the answer  for all things “
It doesn’t mean everything means you can raise a dead man but it can prolong a human life
It doesn’t mean you can buy happiness but you can go for a European tour
It doesn’t mean you can buy a good sleep but you can buy a quality mattress
and so on and so forth.
There is one great story in the bible that teaches about growing our money through commerce.
The Parable of the Talents
14 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants[a]and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents,[b] to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[c] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’26 But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:14-30 English Standard Version (ESV)
Every day God always giving us a chance to produce by means of these talents a talent that came only by our creator.

Though this story is very well said it is simply that God telling all of us that we all have a capital to reproduce it’s either knowledge, skills & abilities.
It does not mean you need to be rich for you to become rich.  you can start from what you have and you can enrich what God has given to you.
Savings:
This passage is the very simple to follow since God uses one of the smallest creature ever created and I think it is not too much for us to follow the simple ways on how we can save our hard earned money the way the ants do.
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
Proverbs 6:11
Proverbs 21:20 The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.
Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
Contentment:
Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:11-13
Many millionaires will not accept this term because they will always tell to you how could you be contented if you cannot buy enough food if you cannot afford to buy your own shelter? so on and so forth.
but what God mean is, we should know “where” to be contented if we have enough we should be thankful and enjoy what blessing that we receive and try to bless others as well.
the opposite of this is even they have enough still they don’t stop to produce because they don’t know where is their limitation unless it is not only for them but for other people’s need.
Sow and Reap:
Many of us don’t like to invest because they are afraid of the following thought
what if this may happen, this is risky, I don’t want to learn because I am afraid.
what if I did not harvest? we worried too much about these things before we start to invest but the bible clearly telling us if you always look at the weather condition you will not sow anymore that’s why you will not have any harvest to gather.
Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.
Ecclesiastes 11:4
Risk:
Everyone who wants to invest should know their risk appetite avoid to become a greedy investor!
if you have time and yet you are young enough you can go for aggressive investment’s but when you are close enough to your retirement you should be moderate for your risk appetite to not lose some of your investments that you needed most in your retirement age.
I have seen a grievous evil under the sun: wealth hoarded to the harm of its owners, or wealth lost through some misfortune, so that when they have children there is nothing left for them to inherit.
Ecclesiastes 5:13-14
I hope this passages from the word of God might help you for your decision before you invest I invest my time to research and to wrote this article so that I can share my experience before I started to invest.
God bless to all my readers out there.
If I Have 5,000 Pesos Which Is Better Buy and Sell or Stock Market?
Written Article: Christopher Torralba ( Vendor )
Good day to everyone!  I just want to share some ideas what you can do if you have a 5,000 pesos and which place is better to trade this amount isn’t Buy and Sell or Invest it in the stock market?
Well since I’m still a newbie in stock market in my personal opinion and self-experience you cannot double your 5,000 pesos in the stock market if you are newbie but some stock market traders can, as long as the stock they bought are bullish but if you are not yet familiar in stock market or you don’t have any idea about investing on it much better to start it in Buy and Sell.
I will give you some short story how I make my 5,000 double in just a few months I am not telling you that I guarantee but I just want to share maybe it makes sense to you.
I work as a Seafarer in tanker vessels  in worldwide trade route since I have my online store on my facebook  I have an idea how can I make profit a little bit more when I ‘m on-board I just started in less than 5,000 pesos around 3,000 pesos I bought some items or small gadgets that I can Resell on-board the vessel and I know our ship’s slop chest manager doesn’t offer some gadget items like USB, memory card , external hard drive and etc.
So I started to bought some items and some of those are small pieces that I know seafarers typically forgot to bring so let’s say  I bought some items around less than 5,000 pesos when I sold it already my money becomes double the advantage of this is simple you provide the stuff that they typically forget to bring or the thing that they did not make it to bring because of very fast dispatch of the crew to join the vessel so some items might be forgotten and that is the opportunity to make some money,..
” providing my colleagues needs “
Base on my one year experience these is the advantage of Buy and Sell on-board the vessel but it’s not limited in my situation you can make a buy and sell to your community that you know you can provide solution to their needs.
Your small capital is not at loss when you bought some item you just simply exchange your money with an item for you to Resell it with a little bit profit.
  1. If some items are not sold you can sold it next time, the item that you sold is the item that you will bought again for you to grow your small capital for just 5,000 pesos alone.
  2. It’s easy to resell your item on board because if  you bring the item which your colleagues forgot to bring definitely they will not hesitate to buy your item.
  3. If they forgot some items like “nail cutter” do you think they will go ashore and pay taxi for 20 dollars just to buy a nail cutter? I don’t think so but if you will sell it for 1- 2 dollars it is easy for you to take advantage of it specially if you bought the nail cutter for just 20 pesos in the Philippines.
  4. You don’t need to sell your item like the style of business man in Suez canal in Egypt you just simply picture your item and print it provided with the price list and leave it in TV room and let the crew alone surf on your provided brochure of the item that you are selling and if they know you are selling something they are the one who will knock on your cabin door.
Simple accounting of Buy and sell:
  1. capital: 5,000 pesos
  2. First item to sell ex: power bank
power bank price: 1,000 pesos
resell it for 1,400 pesos
  1. total capital: 5,400  pesos already
  2. less your fare from buying it from your supplier
  3. how much more if you sold all your items that cost around 5,000 pesos
This is just one item alone what if you bought this 5,000 pesos and you sold it all,
I know your small capital can make it double and I knew it  because I experience it already but gadgets is one of the example what item you can sell on-board or even onshore it depends on your stuff that you like to sell.
So we will go in stocks what if  I will put my 5,000 pesos in the stock market?
As I’ve said if you will put your 5,000 pesos in stock market your gain or profit is depend on the situation if you are just an investor what you need is time for it to grow but it depends if you invest peso cost averaging  meaning you put certain amount monthly and consistently this 5,000 will need enough time to grow itself, if you bought some stocks and you’re lucky that your stock  grows around 10 % within 3 months it’s just only 5,500 pesos not including the tax of buying and selling if you  bought a stock for an amount of 5,000 pesos when it became a stock it is not 5,000 anymore it is less than 5,000 pesos because of the tax in buying and if you have this 10 % gain in your stock and if you decide to sell it you also have a tax for selling it.
So in my own opinion though I’m just a newbie and I knew to my self much better to trade it in buy and sell as long as you have selling skills and you do have your market where to sell your item or goods, but if you don’t have any skills in selling definitely much better to put your 5,000 pesos in stock market or mutual fund if you know mutual fund rather than bank alone that gives less than 1 % guaranteed interest.
Here is the thing when you put your 5,000 pesos in the bank your banker will invest it in some investment vehicle preferably stock market! if they earn 10 % of your 5,000 meaning they have 500 pesos but what they will give to your bank account is less that 1% guaranteed interest so let’s say this 9 % profit will go on your bankers pocket that is the simple thing that banks do and I know it because one of my college friend is a bank teller.
So why you will stay all your money in bank alone? why put some of it in some investments that can give a little bit higher than the bank performs.
So let’s go back to our small business!
So that’s why have you seen in facebook how many Filipinos make some business through buy and sell? do think they will waste their time in posting their items if they did not experience to make money online?
If  buy and sell does not work no one will spend their time selling their items online.
But in the end if you have a small capital it’s your own jurisdiction where to put it and where do you think it can grow faster and little bit safer.
I am not an expert I’m just a newbie in Investing and in Buy and Sell but it really make sense to my small amount of money that I saw it grows day after day.
Question: What are the advantage and disadvantage of both?
Answer:
Buy and Sell:  Is much faster to multiply your money rather than stock market if!  you will start just around 5,000 pesos and likewise it is an active income meaning if you won’t move you will not earn.
Stock Market:  If you put your 5,000 pesos it will make a profit in the long run but not as Buy and Sell performs, but here in stock market investing you don’t need to work for it because you just need to fund your account in your stock broker buy a stock  and wait your stock price goes up until you may have a profit and sell if you are satisfied with the gains.
TIPS!
Let’s say you start with 5,000 pesos after one year you make it double it is already 10,000 pesos
what if you start 10,20,30 or even 50,000 pesos and you double it and it depends on the years that you trade it in Buy and Sell if your money doubled already that is the perfect time you can invest it in the stock market because you need to remain some amount for your capital when you do a Buy and Sell, year after a year if your profit make’s double put it again in stocks so while your Buy and Sell small business grows likewise your stock market investment work’s alone while you are in buy and sell.
Take note and don’t forget! before you travel in stock market trading make sure you have some ideas, knowledge and understanding much better to attend stock market seminar or you can read some books or you can search it on the internet so you may understand how does it works..
I hope you learn something interesting today! God bless,..
Why some seafarers are not enjoying excessive vacation?
Written by: Christopher Torralba ( Tambay )
Hi! this Christopher your fellow seafarer and still active same as you, I just want to share some of my story regarding this true to life issue of seafarers before and until now.
I am not new but I admit I’m not still a veteran or well experience seafarer in ratings position well today I just want to discuss this question and I hope I can share some valuable things in seafarer’s lives.
Why some seafarers are not not enjoying excessive vacation?
There are many reason why these situation happen whether we like or not and I don’t believe that there is no seafarer had never experience it.
because all of us have different experiences in life specially if you have a sea career as they said experience is the best teacher!
Base on my observation and my experience many of us are not enjoying excessive vacation because one of the simple reason is “money”   yeah we don’t have money anymore, how can we excessive vacation if our bank account is running out of cash? and some narrow people will say,..
” money is not everything you cannot bring it to heaven “
yeah that’s correct! but  how on earth you can bring tangible stuff in spiritual realm? well if you know king Solomon he stated in the bible,..
” Money is the answer for all things “
A feast is made for laughter, wine makes life merry, and money is the answer for everything.
Ecclesiastes 10 :19
So I think one of the main reason  is money, why money? because for the people doesn’t know how seafarer’s lived these is the reality but I am not telling all of seafarers.
I will make it simple so everyone will able to understand and you may have an idea how we lived if we are on vacation.
When seafarer leave his country and go on board the ship just to work and to earn money for our love one’s and not including other expenses when we are on board, our hard earned money typically goes to our family which we called allotment and many of us don’t expect that there will be some savings or any excess when we sent this allotment to our family so the money that remain to us is the on board salary so let’s say i have a friend a seafarer and he can save his salary on board around 700 $ per month so if his contract around 10 months so it will be 7,000 dollars for the whole 7 months so 7,000 dollars x 46 expected exchange rate = 322,000 thousand pesos in Philippine moneybut did you know that when you have this kind of amount for other ordinary Filipinos these is actually a huge money in their behalf but when we go back to the question,
Our problem is money, but where is these 322,000 thousand pesos go? does it flee that we never felt? or it just go into our pocket and after 3 – 4 months it all goes out of our pocket? well as I’ve said we work and we earn to provide for our family but my question is does it need to stop there?
These are the following reason why these thing happen to many seafarers regardless of  position and salary on board the vessel.
Priority:
Many  Filipino seafarer’s our excellent and have the capacity to earn base on their knowledge and skills but the problem is many of us doesn’t know about priorities in our finances when we receive our hard earned money we don’t know where it to bring though our allotment is allocated to our families already still our salary that we receive on board and the money to take home doesn’t have any course or direction because there is no definite plan where to allocate every part of it.
so most likely all of these income that we accumulate on board will just stay in our pocket for just a couple of months if you don’t agree look on your own finances and how long it will take and how many months you can lived even without any source of income.
so if we will compute this let’s say my friend have a cost of living with his entire family around 35,000 thousand pesos per month.
322,000 pesos / 35,000 pesos =  9.2 months ( he can lived with his family within around 9 months! )
9 months only if! he will use all of his salary by their basic need’s alone, but how about chocolates?, liquor, shopping, travel, renewal of documents and seafarers training’s and other expenses that we did not mention anymore. so i don’t think he can enjoy a 9 months vacation maybe it will be lesser and i hope you understand it’s basic explanation.
Spending habit:
Spending is one of the most important activities of the people nowadays, but not all spending habit is very important like buying some stuff that you don’t need at all, or buying some stuff immediately that depreciate its value overtime even it is 50 % off in the shopping store, well I cannot judge everyone but we know to ourselves which is important, which can be delayed or which is an urgent stuff to pay for.
When you see some seafarers coming home it’s like a one week celebration when they got home and likewise when we need to come back to the ship we don’t have money anymore but still some seafarers still spending their money in despedida ( farewell party )
When we arrive in the airport at manila we will buy a bunch of chocolates and liquors  that normally seafarers spending habits but in my own opinion these stuff is not an urgent stuff to buy though I bought some chocolates but I have my own and effective way to save money from these,
What? but how about  Filipino tradition?  yeah tradition makes  seafarer’s very “WEALTHY ” did you felt it too? and one thing to mention! even you gave your whole  family with pasalubong  like chocolates and other stuff  you can count on your finger how many of them think about your safety when you are working on the ship and yet they earned their entitlement that every time we go home we should have something from them or else they will dislike your generosity.
Income multiplier:
Some seafarers have some businesses or some investment’s that they are diligently working for it while their sea career still hot, but many of us doesn’t have any means of income multiplier the reason is many seafarers doesn’t want to learn other stuff like business or any investment so what will happen is the money they take home how huge it is still it will be lesser and lesser as the day goes by because every day we need to spend for our basic needs and yet there is no other source of income when we are on vacation specially if our wive’s doesn’t have any job because their job is to take care of our children and to take care of our home so typically most of seafarer when they got home they just wait until the next voyage for them to produce again, but sometimes sea career becomes salty and bitter in some unexpected bad weather so if these will take its place what are we going to do?
It just simply multiply your income in a different businesses or investments so in this way you have some inner pride that you can stay more vacation unlike other seafarers do. but there is some exemption and hard situation some seafarers have a big and extended family and i know you get what i mean and some of them have a family which is sick that they need to work ahead of their vacation time frame.
as my mentor said: save that money how small it is because that is still a money!
I don’t know how you manage your finances but the important matter here is you should know how to multiply your income when you got home or even while your still on board  because when we got home we are not employed anymore and there is no free at all, unlike when we are on the ship almost everything is free.
So what can I suggest to my fellow seafarers is to learn about business and investments don’t look too far in making money it will just bound here  in having your own business and investments.
so this is some of my suggestions and I hope it make sense to you.
Multiply your money by following:
( Note! Continues learning in managing these suggestions is a must. )
* buy and sell
* affiliate marketing  (simply advertising other peoples product and have commission on it )
* Life Insurance ( Investment + life protection )
* Mutual fund
* Stock market
* Business Services
* Use your own talent and skills and make money on it
* Online business ( it depends what business you want to make through online )
These suggestions is based on what I have experienced already but these is not limited to you because you are different from me and  there is a bunch of ideas everywhere it’s either on your own community street’s or you can surf in the social media or start searching for books and attending financial seminars.
I hope I shared something informative to my fellow seafarers,
Bon Voyage to everyone, God bless!
DISADVANATGE OF INVESTMENTS copy
The Disadvantage of Investing:
” Things that your financial adviser will never tell you about “
gkfdjf - Copy Written by: Christopher Torralba
I know you are wondering what is about my topic on my blog today, and I know you are curious and interested to read about.
Here are some of my brain storming evidence that  will unlock your imagination so that
you will have an Idea about disadvantages of Investing, know it before it’s too late!
  1. Investing Early
Investing early is not a good idea because the time I receive my first paycheck is better to spend it to my wants that I can’t afford before in this way I can tell to myself my hard work is worth it.
But investing early is one of the best ways you can lessen your time frame in working hard for a very long time as an employee regardless of your salary, you can rest ahead of time.
Disadvantage:
As early as possible you cannot enjoy all of your income in wants and other unnecessary expenses because it will be divided into your investments that will take care of you in your retirement age.
  1. Knowledge
When you are planning to invest you will not invest in money alone, your knowledge should be intact with your investments. in this way you will have your new obligation after working hard for the whole day you need to allocate extra time and effort to read and study some stuff that related to your investments.
And continues educating yourself in handling your finances is a great virtue.
Disadvantage:
Much better for your to stay in beeper rather than using a smartphone, learning new things becomes tiring! much better after your 8 hours or work you deserve to relax and to enjoy your spare time in other stuff rather than dividing your time learning new things and your hobbies as well.
  1. Rich people routine
If you will learn to invest, you will not be curios what is the typical routine of the rich people, who doesn’t have any physical work, sometimes they are just sitting and drinking their coffee at their desk while they are just monitoring the growth of their money without working so hard everyday? unlike the most employed people doing everyday.
Disadvantage:
If you will not make any action to learn the stuff that the rich people doing, you will end up working in their precious command and demand, isn’t gorgeous to hear that? learning to invest will help you to dream a possible escape in a corporate world. that everyone longing to achieve but doesn’t have the guts to make any action.
  1. Be like an Ants in the Bible ( Proverbs 6: 6 )< – click to see the bible verse
If you will learn to invest and save, probably you will be like an ants that carries their food in the summer time and they settle in their caves when winter or rainy days come, they just eating their food and simply worry free for their daily consumption, because they prepare it already in advance and that is the time when they start early in collecting food stuff that left on the ground or in our dine table.
Disadvantage:
Much better to spend all of my paycheck to my monthly wants and unnecessary expenses, rather than paying myself first by means of investment and savings that will surely and possible to take care of me at my retirement age, much better to learn now to invest in knowledge rather than to become an ” excess baggage ” unto my children in the future.
The question is:
What if I am interested to learn?

  1. Investing In Insurance
Investing in your own protection like Life Insurance will be a great survival craft into your family in the event of unexpected loss of life that you and me will never know how when and where?
Disadvantage:
If you will not invest in your own protection like Life Insurance, you will be in big trouble whether you are an ordinary employee or an investor. having your Financial protection like life insurance is a must!

budget in going ashore copy

Tips and advice for seafarers and their budget the next time they go ashore!
Written by: Christopher Torralba ( Seafarer )
Taking our break by means of shore leave means a lot for all of the seafarers out there,  but what if I tell you that even in going ashore you can make a plan for it? well, this is just a simple advice base on my personal observation last two days ago.
If you want to learn how to manage your finances well, absolutely you need to learn it even in small things like when you go ashore, because of the joy of learning and sharing I would like to share this tips on my fellow seafarers.
How can you prepare yourself and your budget in your next shore leave ?
and I hope it can make sense to all of you mga kabaro!
xfhg
  1. Make a list of your items to buy:
Priority: Things that you cannot leave without
* Ship’s stuff that captains ask you to buy
* Toothpaste
* deodorant
* etc
* medicine & vitamins
Wants: Things that can leave with or without it
* Snacks
* Wine
* chocolates
* soda & etc
Second priority:
* some of your colleagues on board that asks your favour to buy their stuff because they cannot go ashore.
Note! You put your colleague’s stuff at the second priority because you go ashore for  yourself to buy your own stuff that you need and that is your first priority.
But make sure that you can buy their stuff or else you know what will gonna happen 😉
reason for making a list to buy:
If you will not set aside a budget you cannot identify what is need or what is wants and suddenly you buy already the things you like because of the alluring advertisement and later you will felt what you bought is not a need but a wants and what you need to buy for you needs is the one who neglected to buy.

  1. Set aside your budget:
Placing  a budget when you go ashore is a good practice because if you have a list and you have a certain budget you will stick to it. but if you will not set aside a budget you will neglect your expenses when you come back onboard and you will tell to yourself  ” what? this is my expenses? what happen?

  1. How to make money in going ashore and take the advantage of it?
* If you have a hobby to sell not just to make additional money but to enhance your skills in selling you can take advantage of it. well, it will be a threat! for the slop chest manager hahahaha…
it is possible if the vessel doesn’t have any snacks to offer for the crew so you can buy some peanuts, chips, and some chocolates in this way whether you like it or not it can be sold  because what you buy is the item that the ship’s crew wants to have when they are watching their movie stuff or surfing on the internet  in their rest time.

4.Prepare two types of old or faded cash
Why old and faded bill? so that you can immediately dispose of some old notes of you dollar money in this way if you have a quality dollar notes it is easy to exchange it in the Philippines and you know already what I mean.
* Prepare Large bills like 100 US dollars
You can prepare your large bill if you have so that if they can change you their own currency and they can also return some dollar amount then you change your 100 $ so that you can have a smaller bill, let’s say you just want to spend 50 dollars as your budget on that day and you have a 100 dollars so if the money changer has a dollar to exchange in return so you can change the 50 dollars into their own currency and likewise you still have your 50 dollars in return.
* Small bills like  5, 10, 20 or 50 dollars
The purpose of the smaller bill is you can have easy cash when paying for the taxi or small items that you don’t need to be mindful if your money is just a small amount, we all know it’s a big deal if we will use a 100 $  and you know what I mean if you have at least 2 years experience in your sea career in a worldwide route.

  1. Bring your own backpack if the journey is a little bit long
The purpose of it is you can take your valuable stuff safely at you own backpack,  I have experienced before  with my bosun we go ashore and he did not take any small handbag or backpack after he has his tablet on his pocket. and what happen is when we eat got home onboard he remember that his tablet is missing and he got insane for the situation after that the other group came on board much later and bosun ask about his tablet if it is in the taxi  because we just use one taxi on that drydock terminal so what we do is we call his number on his cell phone and luckily it rings and when we are near in the terminal gate we got pee on the near grass and we heard something’s ringing! and that’s it! it is bosun’s tablet fall on the ground near on the grass because before he enters the dry-dock terminal he got to pee and he did not felt that his tablet got to fall on the ground, the lesson here is if you have a backpack or any handbag that your put your shore pass, passport , seaman’s book and other important stuff it is all there and secured because your hand carry is always in your body which hangs.. I hope you learned some lesson here guys.
  1. Ridding a taxi or any service from the terminal
Before you leave to make sure check all your stuff and check also the taxi compartment if you put your stuff there because I experience that I left some of my stuff there when we came back onboard how lucky am I it’s just my
” big mac “

  1.  Bring some drinking water

  1. Bring extra plastic bag
Why do you need to bring an extra plastic bag? If you have your list of your priority and wants sometimes it has some changes let’s say you plan to buy for just one month consumption but when you go to the grocery you felt that the price is cheaper and fare enough to your budget so in this way maybe you will buy more of your personal stock in your cabin,  or if you will have your next voyage that  will be around 45 days at sea maybe that is a good decision to buy additional for your personal stocks.
The other purpose of it is if you are going ashore in a group and sometimes when you buy something there is too much plastic to bring but if you will put all in one plastic bag it will be secure and safe and you don’t need to forget everything because you just need to bring one big plastic bag one at a time.

  1. scrap paper for your money envelope system
The purpose of this envelope system is if ever 2 to 3 of your colleagues ask your favour to buy something for them, every change of their money when you purchase something will be divided systematically that you don’t need to compute the change because after you count all of the change in the counter you can just put it into their respective envelope so that it will be  easy and effectively manageable.
